Alright so here's how it happened!....
I had front row tix to the Purdue show so I thought I might
as well try again with the sign I made, "Dave, sign me so I can get tattooed." I tried it at Alpine and he shook his finger
at me, ha I still don't know what to make of that but everyone around me was like holy shit that was so cool. And yea the
sign is a bit corny and only lord knows what Dave really thought about it. (maybe crazy?) Well the show starts and Dave
and Tim come out on stage I hold up my sign a little bit and then Dave pointed at it and then he gave a little chuckle.(Maggie
told me this, I dont really remember it I guess) The show continued and it was amazing. The crowd was the complete opposite
of those at Carthage so that was great, which also meant Dave told a lot of great stories, he was hilarious, and despite a
frog in his throat he still belted out some great stuff.
The encore came around and when Dave returned on stage I just left
the sign on the stage and lifted it up a bit, he saw it again and he pointed on stage and nodded his head. With
this my heart skipped a beat, I looked over to Maggie and she said, "Hubie, you may get to meet him!" I said "No
Maggie, we can't get our hopes up." So the show ended and he saw the sign, pointed on stage again, just
making the notion like, Yea I'll get ya back here. I didn't see it but he went over to his gigantic bodyguard or
whoever it was and told him to get me a pass because I looked over to the back curtains and I could see him searching
through the crowd. I wasn't even going to but I thought maybe he really is looking for me so I held up my sign and then he
came over to me. He said "wait by those doors for a few minutes and I'll get you a pass." These are the best F#%^&!
words I have ever heard in my life. I looked at him the whole time w/ my jaw dropped to the floor and I turned
my head to Maggie just in shock, not saying a word. I thought to myself, it's finally happening! This is the
best day of my life. I will get to meet this one guy who has done so much for me w/ out even knowing me. Maggie
and I waited with about 6 others to meet him backstage, she was a lot more jittery than I was. He finally comes into this
small small dressing room and says hi and shakes everyone's hand. And this is the time when I notice, well no I smell that
he's wasted.HA!
None of us really got to say or ask much because he went on to talk about some
hotel room that has a TV in the tub and theres all these buttons and that he can go on speaker phone. And then he asked me
"Do you have a satellite dish?", and I said "no", but the girl behind him said yes, he asked "do you get channel 327?" She
laughed and said no, so then he went on about how theres all these great documentaries on there, and that you can get 5 minutes
on Africa and then 5 minutes on Brazil, and they'll tell a story, it's not just like CNN news stuff. He went on a little
bit more about that and then I guess it was guys from the crew that were coming in every few minutes to say Dave we gotta
get goin, we're holding up traffic and we gotta get to Chicago. And yea thats when Dave went on to tell us what hotel hes
staying at haha, but I forgot the name of it, I thought it started w/ an "L" or a "V" oh well. Since he was hurried along
we didnt get to say much, which was dumb cuz there was only like maybe 7 of us there and there was a few things that I wouldve
liked to ask him. And then I asked if he would sign me so he did that, and then I said if you wanna make some drawing too
thatd be cool :) Then I asked if I could get a pic w/ him, he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me in real close
and pressed his cheek up against mine. And the other pic of me, Maggie and him, I fixed his hair (its real soft by the
way) before the pic was taken, hey if hes gonna get his pic taken w/ me hes gonna have to look decent!
It was a great day :)
And when I came back to my apartment a few days later, to my surprise my roommate got the pic enlarged
and put it in a real nice wooden frame and hung it up on our living room wall :) Thanks again Mary.

Maggie made this for me also. I was glowing for like an hour when I got it.
She got some pics from Gwen, who we met backstage and was kind enough to take some pics for us. Thank you so much Gwen.
In the frame you can see Dave smelling his guitar, and there's one of
me,Dave, and Maggie. Unfortunately my eyes are closed but it still turned out real nice. And there's a pic of Dave signing
me, so now I can get a COA for my leg I guess.
Yes I did actually get it tatooed (hey I couldnt lie to Dave!) I was able to get it tat'd right over
his signature but then I had his drawing transferred onto my back, all that on my leg wouldve been just a little too much.
Oh yea, I got to meet the band this time! Except for Stefan. Driving around Chicago, saw the tourbusses
and made my way over to say Hi. They were all of course very nice and obliged all about 10 of us in posing for photos and
autographs. And thanks to Johanna for taking the pic of Carter and I as my battery was running low. I commented on him showing
us his pipes the other night and he got a kick outta that, but it was just awesome to see this huge smile he always has on
his face.
